Reduce, Recycle and Reuse

Cork is a beautiful, quiet, sustainable flooring that is great for allergy sufferers. It is one of
the few products that combine great design and high comfort with natural properties. Cork is
obtained by peeling the bark off of the cork oak tree approximately every 10 years. The tree
remains and is not felled, thereby the environment is unharmed. |

Bamboo gives you the natural beauty and sustainability of wood without the feeling of
damaging our environment. Bamboo is a grass that reaches maturity in 3-5 years, while
traditional hardwoods mature in 20-120 years. The grass is cut at the base, leaving the roots
to regrow to maturity. Bamboo is an eco-friendly, highly renewable source of flooring
material. |

Wool sets the standards for fine carpet. Manufacturers have been trying to replicate wools
characteristics with little success.
* Naturally renewable- Wool is a renewable product with less impact on the environment
* Naturally hypo allergenic- Wool fibers do not promote the growth of bacteria or dust mites.
* Naturally stain resistant- Most stains are created by liquid substances.
* Wool repels liquids, therefore chemical stain protection treatments are unnecessary.
* Naturally elastic- Wool fibers rebound easily and return to their original shape with ease
Synthetic fibers will loose their shape and flatten easily.
* Naturally flame retardant- Wool fibers will not ignite when exposed to a fire source.
The fiber may singe, but will self extinguish. |

Smart Strand Carpeting : By using the sugar found in corn, DuPont has created a
renewable sourced polymer called Sorona. The Sorona is spun into a fiber by Mohawk to
create Smart Strand carpet. This process saves enough energy and resources to equal one
gallon of gas for every 7 yards of Smart Strand carpet manufactured. This new technology is
estimated to save 10 million gallons of gasoline per year for our environment.
PET Fiber is a synthetic polyester derived primarily from recycled plastic containers and
bottles. Millions of plastic bottles have been removed from our landfills to create this unique
fiber. So, in addition to helping our environment, these fibers are naturally stain and
abrasion resistant.
